The format for the arguments to fw1rules is GNU style, meaning that
multi-character switches require two hyphens instead of one. I also
suggest that you use the merge_SP3 option to include your
rulebases_5_0.fws file. So your command should be...
fw1rules.pl \
--rules=a-cok-workremote-lexi-us-20041022-1va.W \
--merge_SP3=rulebases_5_0.fws \
--objects=objects_5_0.C \
--output_html=workremote.html

Subject: [fwtools] re: rules string not accepting filename other than Standard.W
To: fwtools@wyae.de
I apologize in advance if this has been discussed in the past, but could not
find a resolution. I have a single NG-AI mgmt console that manages 10
firewalls. So I downloaded the 10 *.W files with the objects_5_0.C files.
When I ran the fw1rules.pl script with the original name of the *.W, I did
not get any errors, but I also did not get the HTML output. Here is the
command I use:
fw1rules.pl -rules=a-cok-workremote-lexi-us-20041022-1va.W
-objects=objects_5_0.C output_html=workremote.html
However, when I rename the rule above to Standard.W, I get the HTML output.
I want to automate the process via crontab, but having to change all 10
rulebase to Standard.W may get a little messy...
Thanks for the help...
Vincent
